Making Cheese without Plastic

There was a time bevor plastics! Seems almost hard to believe, I know, but everything from knife handles and shopping bags to transport containers and chewing gum used to be made from different materials; more often than not from tree based ones. Also in the world of cheesemaking tree based utensils ruled supreme. Wooden buckets were used for milking while wooden barrels or vats were used for milk coagulation and curdling. Even the cheese presses and molds were made wood or bark. Find out why and how this influenced the flavor of the cheese in my recent video:
