Why Tree Bark is essential for Tonic Water

Tonic water has long been one of my favorite drinks to order. With or without gin, I just like its bitter, not overly sweet flavor that fits just perfectly with a warm summer evening by the sea. Yet did you know that its most essential flavor wouldn’t be possible without tree bark? Find out more in my video:

Here is the Tonic Recipe from the Video:

9g Cinchona Bark
1 Lemon
1 Lime
1 Orange
225 ml water
200g sugar
220ml + 120ml Water

Take the 220ml of water and mix it with 9g of Cinchona bark. Next peel the Lemon, Lime and Orange and add it. Squeeze the juice of the lemon and add it as well. Vigorously shake the mixture and put it into a fridge for 72 hours. Once ready bring the 120ml of water to a boil and dissolve the 200g sugar in it. Let it cool and then mix it with the rest.
Congratulations, you have made Tonic Syrup!
For consumption add as much sparkling water as you like and mix it for example with Gin. Enjoy!
